After the great success of his ballet at the Rhine premiere of “New World”, the young Canadian Robert Binet returns to Düsseldorf. “Dark with Excessive Bright” is the title of his new piece, which hides John Milton’s legendary epic poem “Paradise Lost” about the fall of man. Robert Binet uses three works from the American Missy Mazzoli, who was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2019 – music that suggests “images of space and spirituality, mystical freedom and perfection”. “Vespers” – a prayer sung at nightfall – becomes “the beginning of a journey that takes us from our solar system to distant galaxies.
